MODIFIED ASPHALT WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE

The Modified Bitumen Waterproofing Material for Roads and Bridges is a type of waterproofing membrane made from modified asphalt, primarily using thermoplastic elastomers such as SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) or polyolefin-based polymers such as APP (Atactic Polypropylene), combined with various additives. The membrane consists of a polyester base coated with modified bitumen, with fine sand, mineral granules (or flakes), or polyethylene film applied to the top surface, and fine sand or polyethylene film on the bottom surface. This product is specifically designed for road and bridge waterproofing applications.

MODIFIED ASPHALT WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE DESCRIPTION

WATERPROOF MEMBRANE PRODCUT TYPE

The product is classified based on its application method:

Self-Adhesive Installation (Z)  Hot Melt (R) Hot Melt Adhesive (J) Waterproofing Membranes

Hot Melt or Hot Melt Adhesive Waterproofing Membranes are further categorized by the type of modifier used:

Elastomer Modified (SBS) 、Plasticizer Modified (APP) Waterproofing Membranes. Self-adhesive waterproofing membranes are made with SBS as the base material, enhanced with other polymers for rubber-modified asphalt properties.

APP Modified Asphalt Waterproofing Membranes are classified into two types based on the asphalt application layer:

Type I  Type II

The top surface of the membrane is made with fine sand (S)、For Hot Melt construction, the bottom surface can be made of:

Polyethylene Film (PE)、 Fine Sand、 (S)Hot Melt Adhesive Membranes have fine sand on the bottom surface (S).

WATERPROOF MEMBRANE PRODUCT FEATURES

Incorporates all the characteristics of APP and SBS.

High heat resistance and excellent high-temperature shear strength, ensuring the waterproof layer remains intact during the paving of high-temperature asphalt concrete.

Strong puncture resistance, capable of withstanding the impact from construction equipment and gravel.

High tensile strength and elongation, offering excellent bonding strength with concrete.

Does not bubble or delaminate; excellent impermeability, capable of withstanding repeated traffic loads and dynamic water pressure.

Resistant to acids, alkalis, salts, and freeze-thaw cycles.

Excellent aging resistance.

WATERPROOF MEMBRANE STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

Different types and specifications of products should be stored separately and should not be mixed.

Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and rain; ensure proper ventilation.

Hot Melt or Hot Melt Adhesive waterproofing membranes should be stored upright at temperatures below 50°C, with a stacking height of no more than two layers.

Under normal storage and transportation conditions, the shelf life of the product is at least one year from the production date.

THE ENGINEERING PROPERTIES OF BRIDGE HIGH IRON SPECIAL WATERPROOF MATERIAL

The Engineering Properties of Bridge High Iron Special Waterproof Material

The modified bitumen waterproofing membrane for bridges and roads is designed to withstand the high temperatures of hot asphalt concrete during rolling construction. It has excellent bonding strength with hot asphalt concrete, enabling it to transmit heavy traffic loads and horizontal shifting forces.

The modified bitumen waterproofing membrane for roads and bridges is highly flexible and provides reinforcement to the asphalt concrete, effectively preventing the formation and propagation of cracks in the asphalt concrete. This improves the service life of the asphalt pavement and enhances the comfort of vehicles driving on the road.

Waterproof Performance: The cracks and voids in the asphalt concrete surface layer of road bridges, under the influence of traffic loads, generate a significant “piston” pressure water effect. This can protect the reinforced concrete structure, particularly the steel reinforcement, from water ingress and damage.

In terms of strength, elongation, and high/low-temperature performance, the modified bitumen waterproofing membrane for roads and bridges surpasses ordinary self-adhesive, SBS, and APP waterproofing membranes. Ordinary self-adhesive, SBS, and APP membranes should never be used for road applications.
